Rug Rage
How quickly life can go from Rug Envy (posted below) to RUG RAGE! My den needs a rug, desperately. I feel like I've been looking for a rug for years.... and since we've lived in our house for just over 2 now... I can legitimately say I've been looking for years!
Why the trouble you ask? Well, it needs to be big- 8x10 minimum, it needs to not cost a fortune, and it needs to match with my green couch-- which seems to be impossible to match with!!!
Last week I thought I had it. I walked into Homesense, found a cute rug with green, blue and grey in it (perfect colours), was 7x9-- good size, and it was only $299!!! So I snatched it up, shoved it in the trunk of my escort, and home we went.
Now maybe it was pattern, maybe it was the undertone (much more yellow then the photos show), but something about it was..... off.
So hubby and I sat on it for a few days, literally and figuratively, and both agreed that it just didn't make us happy when we walked into the room and saw it. As hubby said "it just doesn't lend anything to the room's design". Isn't it strange how you can never tell if a room is going right, but you can definitely tell when it's going wrong?
Unfortunately Mr. Circle Rug just wasn't a good connection with our home sweet home- so back to the store he went.... I think we both left upset, he for be rejected, me for knowing I now have to keep looking for a rug to fit our hostile den! Inspiration... help me out, I need to see rooms that got their rugs right!!

Rug Envy
I have been craving this rug from West Elm for months:
And since design loves to tease us with things we can't have, seeing it pop up in some of my favourite places just makes me crave it even more.
Sarah Richardson did it on a big scale on Sarah 101:
But I especially LOVE it in this nursery by Nicole Lanteri:

Royally Excited
We are soooooo close to the Royal Wedding and I am soooo excited!!
How will I be celebrating the festivities?
Drinking tea and listening to romantic music?
Nope.
I'll be in Toronto anticipating UFC and getting up close and personal with Joe Rogan.
So while Kate is off becoming a princess....
I'll be sitting front row at Joe Rogan's standup show... ahhh the life of a non-princess :)
Tom Cruise Syndrome
Remember my adorable adorable adorable wedding shoe find? Well they came this week!!
Good News: They are even cuter in person.
Bad News: The heel is higher then expected... resulting in a bit of Tom Cruise Syndrome:
I TOWER over future hubby... not cute for photos we're going to look at for the rest of our lives!!!
So it's back to the drawing board on the shoes... this time something FLAT!
Ahhh the downfall to being the same height as your better half ;)

Fabric Fun!!
I had a dream months ago that I wanted the centerpieces at my wedding to be lamp shades. All different colours, shapes and styles. As a designer I thought it was the perfect idea as it symbolizes my love for design as well as the theme Hubby and I want for our wedding- cozy and comfortable.
How to go about getting lamp centerpieces however, is a bit of a challenge! Luckily I have lots of time to play and experiment before the big day, and have been lucky enough to find lots of inspiration.
I have had WAY too much fun shopping for fun fabric, and interesting lamps and am starting to think my centerpieces are going to look pretty darn cute.
Here's a sneak peak :)
cute right?! With a grey and yellow colour scheme I keep debating over bringing in other accents... there are just too many fun fabrics to choose from!!

Beautiful Bridesmaid Dresses
When one of my closest friends got engaged back in the Fall I was overjoyed to find out that as her bridesmaid, my attire for the big day was so incredibly simple... a little black dress!
Cut to 8 months later and I've exhausted all of my options at every retail store in Ontario and the States trying to find the perfect LBD with NO luck!! Who knew it was going to be so hard. Thankfully this weekend I made a trip to my favourite bridal store Nicholas & Elizabeth in London and came face to face with my future walk-down-the-aisle dress :)
I LOVE the neckline, LOVE the poofy skirt and LOVE the vintage style. And since the bride is walking down the aisle in a tea-length vintage number herself, I think my dress is a perfect compliment.
Mix in some adorable heels with bow details:
and you've got yourself one adorable bridesmaid :) All we're missing now is a killer tennis bracelet or stunning earrings!!

Wedding Shoes
I think I may have found my wedding shoes today!
They are vintage inspired, yellow, a touch of a heel and most of all... super cute!!

They remind me of my grandmother who always wore the BEST shoes,
I can't wait to hit the mall this weekend and try them on for size... here's hoping they don't pinch my feet :)

Spinning the Colour Wheel
When it comes to design I don't often gamble with the colour wheel. I like to stay to one side or the other, never venture outside the lines... but with the guest room, I think a spin on the colour wheel is in order!!
Purple and Yellow, Blue and Orange? A little bit of everything?? The possibilities are endless :) and the inspiration... even more so...
