Wallpaper makes me Happy

I have been craving wallpaper- it's so chic right now and will be the perfect additon to my drab powder room!!!

Wallpaper looks SO good in powder rooms I simply have to have it :)

Thanks to Blue Mountain Wallcoverings, I actually get to play around with colour & designs and see what my wallpaper is going to look like in the space...

This is my final choice and I like it!! SOLD!

Sew Much Fun

This past Christmas I was lucky enough to recieve a hand-me-down sewing machine from my boyfriend's grandmother :) Since practically failing Home Ec in elementary school (my shorts turned out 3 sizes too big) I've been afraid to touch one!! But now, thanks to Martha Stewart, I think I'm going to give this sewing thing another try!! Who better to teach me the in's and out's of sewing then from THE expert herself.

Martha's Encyclopedia comes out at the end of the month, just in time for some spring crafts :)

Pretty Powder Room

As the laundry room design wraps up, my sights are now set on the adjoining powder room...
 

Yes, that is a GREEN SINK you see. We've already updated the toilet (yes, it was green too). Once upon a time there were large gray tiles around the vanity as well which lent nothing to the overall design! YIKES!

 It's a very small space right off the den and is literally attached to the laundry room so it needs to cater to both spaces!! I'm thinking of adding some funky wallpaper and a dramatic vanity.... ideas to come!!

Another step has been completed in our laundry room makeover!! CABINETS!!

This week the counter top goes in and then we're almost done!

Well the painting portion of the Laundry room is done!! After hours of painting, taping and more painting, our laundry room is finally starting to take shape!!

This is not a Love Story. This is a story about Love

 I just finished watching what is now my second favourite movie of the year- (500) Days of Summer. It was gorgeous! From the plot to the sets to the wardrobe, I loved it all. 

The main character, Tom, is an aspiring architect and we get to see life through his eyes- it's awesome!

I laughed, I cried, I got inspired...what more could you ask for in a movie :) 

More Laundry Room Love

The weekend is almost here! For me that means more work on my laundry room makeover (pictures to come!) . Though my beluga beige countertop is already purchased, I found this GREAT idea from The Style Dept.'s Suzanne Dimma's files:

Here is a great project to convert the top of your washer and dryer into an ironing surface.

Materials:

• 5/8” Thick MDF (or plywood)
• 1” Upholstery foam
• Spray adhesive
• Heat-resistant fabric
• Staple gun
• Measuring tape
• 2-3 Small L-brackets and screw

Directions:

• Measure the surface space of washer and dryer
• Cut MDF board according to size of space
• Apply spray adhesive to one side of board
• Apply upholstery foam on top of board (cutting excess foam off so it is the same size as the board)
• Lay fabric over the foam, using upholstery-style technique, staple fabric to board
• To eliminate movement, use 2-3 small L-brackets evenly spaced to secure the board to wall

Tada! A beautiful, multi-purpose counter top!!
